When Portobello asked me to imagine a café inside the store, the first thing I thought of was the historic moment we are living and the daily contrast between the wish for human contact and the impossibility of having it.

Then, it came a project in which the space for sociability was conceived as a theater space, inhabited by masks.
The theatricality of masks allows you to hide, get protected and isolated in a secret place. The eyes allow you to see without being seen.

This social context refers to classicism, and it could only be expressed by a precious urn of ceramic coating, which interprets marble, interrupted just by a beam of light that crosses the window, bringing the energy of Brazilian landscapes, which have always fascinated me.

For more than twenty years, Novembre Studio operates in several fields related to projects in architecture, interior design, product and graphic design.

Fábio Novembre is recognized as the heir of a highly expressive Italian design. He creates projects to several international brands, such as Kartell, Venini, Driade, Natuzzi and Cappellini. He is also the Creative Director of Driade, Scientific Director of Domus Academy and a member of the scientific board from the Trienal Design Museum in Milan.
