Portobello gave carte blanche to our office to create this space. The only request was that we should use the recently released maxi-slabs, which are 3,2 meters high and can be customized in the most diverse ways. Working with a high-tech and resistant product, which also offers versatility for drawing, is the dream of every architect. Slabs allowed us to explore the generous ceiling height, from which we created wide spans with large scale prismatic elements and a long faceted bench, resulting in a fluid, spacious and sophisticated project.

Graduated in Architecture at Bahia Federal University, he believes: “Spaces were made to be enjoyed, having spatial and visual comfort, quality of materials for finishing and furniture, informality and respect to clients’ ways of living combined to an appropriate use of space, which are the maximum priorities”. Author of more than 1000 residential and corporative works, currently David Bastos owns offices in Salvador (Bahia) and São Paulo, where he counts on a team of young and experienced professionals who innovate architecture in a unique style. The greatest characteristic of his work comprehends beach houses, loosened and spread along the lands, in which spaces are connected through walkways, with or without roofs. The use of natural and sustainable materials, such as reforestation wood, turns his projects into timeless works. His projects can be found across the coast of Africa, Switzerland, Portugal, the US and Peru.
