Natural Gas
Portobello has installed natural gas in its entire production to replace coal, with the intention of minimizing the environmental impact and the use of non-renewable natural resources. Today, the company operates with 100% natural gas in all its production plants.
- Recovering the flora from mineral extraction
Portobello is becoming a national reference in the environmental recuperation of areas of clay mining - clay is the raw material for manufacturing ceramic tiles. This is the result of research by company specialists in partnership with the Regional University of Blumenau.
This work, monitored by official organs of environmental control, lead to the development of innovative methods and the revision of the concepts of how to recuperate degraded areas.
- Effluent Treatment Station (ETE)
With Portobello, 100% of liquid effluents is treated. The ETE is capable of treating 50,000 liters per hour, as the water treated at the station is reused in processes for preparing the ceramic material and others, with a 100% absorption of the residue (slime) generated in the station.
- Selective waste collection
Portobello is gradually perfecting and enlarging its internal program for selective waste collection. More than to guarantee the suitable disposal of solid residues generated and the reuse of materials such as: paper, glass, plastics and metals, this initiative aims at multiplying the results of recycling through spreading the word to our employees of the virtues on environmental consciousness.
